Shopify: AI Agents Could Become Its Biggest Salesforce

Shopify doesn’t need more merchants. It needs more transactions per merchant, from channels that didn’t exist two years ago. Tuesday’s partnership with Meta is the clearest signal yet that management knows exactly where that volume is supposed to come from.

A 96% win rate using this strange trading approach

There’s a way to profit from the AI boom that has nothing to do with picking stocks.

Wall Street legend Larry Benedict calls it “AI Profit Loops.”

This pattern hits the market every 90 days. Over the last five years, it has come around 23 times.

In 22 of them, Larry handed his members multiple winning trades. That’s a 96% win rate, and the next “Loop” is due to hit on September 16.

Why This Stock Now

Shopify shares rose roughly 7% on September 22, 2026, after Meta’s Muse AI agent gained the ability to complete purchases through Shop Pay on Shopify-powered stores. The stock closed at $147.74, up 7.12% on the day, extending a move that had already gained 7.33% the session before when the deal was unveiled, bringing the two-day advance to roughly 15%. The speed of that re-rating is the tell. Markets are not pricing a modest revenue bump. They are pricing a structural shift in how commerce flows to Shopify merchants.

The Business

Shopify is one of the largest e-commerce platforms in the United States, and it has said it powers about 14% of U.S. e-commerce. In Q2 2026, it posted $115.6 billion in GMV, up 32% year over year, and $3.58 billion in revenue, up 34%. That marked the 13th straight quarter that revenue growth has exceeded 25% year over year. The engine underneath all of it is Shop Pay, which processed $35 billion in GMV in Q1 2026 alone, up 59% year over year, with Shop Pay GMV outside the United States growing more than 70%. Plugging that checkout layer into Meta’s Muse is not a product launch. It is a distribution agreement that routes Muse’s user graph toward Shopify merchants at the moment of purchase intent.

Musk Signs MASSIVE Six-Year Deal with Tiny Company

Musk is buying 75,000 metric tons of one “magical” element from a completely unknown company.

Here’s why America’s Economist says the stock could skyrocket in days. (He bought 10,000 shares himself)

Why Wall Street Is Paying Attention

Deutsche Bank analysts said the deal signals that major AI platforms are defaulting to Shopify’s commerce infrastructure rather than building checkout systems of their own, pushing back against fears that AI agents could disintermediate Shopify’s merchants. Piper Sandler had already raised its price target to $180 earlier this month, reiterating Overweight and pointing to stronger 2027 growth and rising free cash flow. Muse itself reached the top of the U.S. iOS App Store within roughly two weeks of its early-September launch, overtaking ChatGPT. Shopify is now wired into one of the hottest consumer apps in the country.

Google and Shopify co-developed the Universal Commerce Protocol, a set of interoperability standards designed to vet agents and make it easier for AI agents to communicate across commerce systems. The Meta deal adds the single largest social-and-messaging distribution platform to that infrastructure. Amazon’s counter-move makes the stakes concrete: Amazon moved to block Muse from completing purchases on its site, displaying a popup warning that access by an unauthorized AI agent violates its conditions of use. One side of the merchant internet is opening. The other is closing the door.

What’s Driving the Opportunity

Agentic commerce helps Shopify grow its payments volume and thus its ability to provide embedded payments and finance as an alternative to banks. In Q2, the company achieved 18% free cash flow margins alongside 34% revenue growth. At current run rates, full-year 2026 GMV is tracking above $460 billion. For the Meta deal to justify Tuesday’s re-rating on its own, Muse-driven Shop Pay volume in 2027 would need to reach somewhere between $15 billion and $20 billion, roughly half of what Shop Pay processed across all channels in Q1 2026 alone. Achievable, but not automatic.

What Could Go Wrong

Revenue in the second quarter of 2026 reached $3.58 billion, up 34% year on year, and the stock still trades at a demanding forward earnings multiple by most common data providers. Neither company has disclosed financial terms of the partnership or a timeline for when Shop Pay’s agentic checkout will be available to all Muse users. That gap matters. A stock with an elevated forward multiple on undisclosed economics is priced for certainty it does not yet have. If Muse adoption plateaus or agent-driven cart sizes prove smaller than human-driven ones, the math unravels fast. Claims about “Guru” 13F activity and the exact number of “premium-tracked” funds holding SHOP could not be verified reliably, so they are omitted here.

The Bottom Line

Shopify’s core growth was already accelerating before this week. The Meta partnership adds a catalyst that competitors cannot easily replicate: an open-platform strategy that makes Shopify the default checkout for every AI agent willing to transact. Amazon’s block of Muse is, paradoxically, the clearest validation of Shopify’s positioning. When the largest retailer in the world sees an AI agent as a threat rather than a partner, the company that chose partnership gains the ground Amazon ceded. At today’s valuation, the trade demands that agentic volume arrives on schedule. The evidence so far suggests it will. The risk is that the market has already priced most of it in.
