US appeals court allows Trump’s EPA to nix climate grants

(Reuters) -A federal appeals court on Tuesday overturned a judge’s ruling that had required U.S. President Donald Trump’s administration to continue funding $16 billion worth of grants that a group of non-profits were awarded pursuant to his Democratic predecessor Joe Biden’s signature law to address climate change.

A 2-1 panel of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit ruled that the lower-court judge lacked jurisdiction to hear a case by five non-profits whose grants to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions were terminated by the Environmental Protection Agency under Trump.
